*Please note that this role is for New Hazlett Theater.
At the New Hazlett Theater, we don’t just make art – we make art happen. Our space is an incubator for performers and creators, and we’ve worked for the last 10 years to bring out the best in everyone who has walked through our doors. In the spirit of our mission to cultivate the arts, we have developed the Community Supported Art (CSA) Program.
This year, we have selected five performing artists from many genres to create a new theatrical work on our stage. These artists receive a budget for their work, three performances at the New Hazlett Theater, access to rehearsal space, technicians, house equipment and front-of-house staff, and full documentation of the work. In addition, we introduce these artists to theatrical artists, designers, and technicians that can help them bring their visions to life. That's where you come in!
The design pool is intended to introduce talented designers and collaborators in our region to this season's artists. We invite you to apply for lighting design, scenic design, costume design, projection design, & sound design. In addition, we are accepting applications from Directors, Dramaturgs, Choreographers and Stage Managers. If selected to be a part of the Design Pool, you will meet with each of the artists in our cohort for a "speed interview." At the speed interview, designers are encouraged to show selections from their portfolio and artists will discuss the project to determine which designers will be offered a paid creative or technical position for the production.
